To Apply Texture to Large Areas

Step 6:

Secure one edge with tape.  Lightly sprinkle back side of Flex-Mold with talcum power for a lubricant.  Remove excess.

Step 7:

Prepare gel coat by checking viscosity with a #2 zon cup.  *Gel coat should run through in 45 - 50 seconds.  Thin with Mini-Craft of Florida Patch Reducer (p/n: 767PB100, 200 or 300).  Catalyze gel coat cool enough to allow sufficient cure time to complete procedure.

*the gel coat must be fluid enough to flow into the cavities of the non-skid pattern to avoid air entrapment.  Also, thick gel coat makes it difficult to squeegee Flex-Mold down level over a large area.

Step 8:

Hold Flex-Mold up and pour enough gel coat on surface to start a wave in front of Flex-Mold face.

Use a proper tool (squeegee, board, paint roller) to push along behind the Flex-Mold in a manner that will move a wave of gel coat before the face of the Flex-Mold as it is lowered into the wave.  Continue process across entire area.

Another method, when practical, is to roll Flex-Mold on a tube and then unroll slowly to push wave of gel coat along..
